Together with Prof. Aytekin Oğuz, Chair of the Contemporary Medicine Association (Güncel Tıp Derneği) in Istanbul and leader of the Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiological (PURE) study in Turkey, researchers from Wroclaw Medical University are co-organizing a series of conferences aimed at promoting knowledge on the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases. This scientific collaboration between national leaders was established during the implementation of the international prospective cohort PURE study.
The conference in Madrid focuses on metabolic diseases, particularly diabetes and its most common comorbidities. The scientific programme includes, among others, an analysis of epidemiological data on hypertension and diabetes within the PURE study, with particular emphasis on comparisons between populations in Turkey and Poland. An important component of the conference is also the issue of multimorbidity in older adults and the role of nutritional interventions in reducing the risk of health complications.
