Together with Prof. Aytekin Oğuz, Chair of the Contemporary Medicine Association (Güncel Tıp Derneği) in Istanbul and leader of the Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiological (PURE) study in Turkey, researchers from Wroclaw Medical University are co-organizing a series of conferences aimed at promoting knowledge on the prevention of non-communicable diseases. This scientific collaboration between national leaders was established during the implementation of the international prospective cohort PURE study.
The symposium in Venice focuses on a broad perspective of diabetes and its systemic consequences. The scientific programme includes, among others, an analysis of the relationship between diabetes and cognitive impairment, hearing loss, and the risk of cancer (particularly head and neck cancers).
Metabolic aspects will also be discussed, such as lower limb edema in the context of metabolic syndrome and diabetes. An important component of the conference is rational pharmacotherapy, including the use of the latest ADA 2026 guidelines to optimize drug dosing and improve patient adherence.
