Together with Professor Aytekin Oğuz, President of The Contemporary Medicine Association (Güncel Tıp Derneği) in Istanbul and leader of the Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiological Study (PURE) in Türkiye, Wroclaw Medical University staff are jointly organizing a series of conferences to promote knowledge on the prevention of lifestyle diseases. The scientific collaboration between the national leaders was established during the international prospective cohort study PURE.

The conference in Vienna will focus on modern strategies for the treatment of diabetes and metabolic diseases, with particular emphasis on organ protection and a precision medicine approach. The program will cover issues related to personalized initial pharmacotherapy and the early use of combination therapies.

An important part of the program will also be devoted to geriatric aspects, including individualizing treatment for older patients and improving communication with patients. Strategies for dietary prevention of cardiovascular complications in diabetes will also be discussed.
