Together with Prof. Aytekin Oğuz, President of the Contemporary Medicine Association (Güncel Tıp Derneği) in Istanbul and the leader of the Turkish arm of the Prospective Urban and Rural Epidemiological Study (PURE), UMW staff are jointly organizing a series of conferences to disseminate knowledge on the prevention and treatment of lifestyle diseases. Scientific cooperation between the national leaders began during the implementation of the international prospective cohort study PURE.

The program will cover cardiovascular disease epidemiology, metabolic risk factors, new therapies, and patient management.

Topics include atherogenic dyslipidemia, PURE study findings, the role of nutrition in lipid disorder treatment, dyslipidemia pharmacotherapy, and therapy inertia in clinical practice. The conference’s second day will focus on arterial hypertension, with emphasis on its coexistence with diabetes, cardiovascular risk factors, and the benefits of combination therapy.

Interactive case discussions are central to the program. They let experts from different countries share their experiences and offer practical perspectives on integrated care for hypertension and dyslipidemia.
