The Department of Pharmaceutical Biology and Biotechnology at Wroclaw Medical University invites you to an open lecture by Professor Marc Diederich of Seoul National University, Korea, focusing on new directions in acute myeloid leukaemia research.

The lecture, entitled ‘Mitochondria as a Therapeutic Target in Acute Myeloid Leukemia’, will take place on 29 September at 11:15 am in Room W4 at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Professor Diederich will discuss the role of mitochondria in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukaemia and their potential as a therapeutic target in modern treatment strategies for haematological malignancies.

Following the lecture, participants will have an opportunity to meet Professor Diederich and discuss research and potential scientific collaboration.

About the speaker

Professor Marc Diederich is a renowned researcher specialising in the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer and inflammatory processes, with a particular focus on leukaemia. His team investigates the mechanisms regulating the expression of genes involved in carcinogenesis and the development of resistance to anticancer drugs. His research interests also include cell death and differentiation, as well as the search for novel naturally derived compounds with anti-inflammatory and chemopreventive properties, including substances obtained from marine and plant sources.

Professor Diederich will visit Wroclaw Medical University as part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programme.

The lecture will provide an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in cancer biology and targeted therapies and to meet a scientist conducting internationally recognised research.
