Medical Discovery Centre
Opening in 2027, the Medical Discovery Centre will be a unique educational and recreational space located in the historic building of the former General Surgery Clinic at 66/68 Skłodowska-Curie Street in Wrocław. This innovative project aims to popularize the achievements of medicine by combining the university’s rich heritage with cutting-edge multimedia technologies.
Inspired by institutions like the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, the Centre will present the history and future of medical science in an engaging and accessible way. It will be open to all visitors—students, educators, tourists, and the general public.
The Centre will be housed in one of the oldest buildings of the Wrocław Medical University campus, dating back to 1883. This site witnessed groundbreaking medical milestones, including Europe’s most advanced aseptic operating theatre in 1897 and pioneering procedures such as kidney transplants and open-heart surgeries under hypothermia.
Spanning 8,000 square meters, the Centre will feature:
Multimedia zones dedicated to the history of medical discoveries
Exhibitions on the future of medicine and public health
Temporary
exhibition spaces
Workshops
and educational rooms
Fighting Misinformation
One of the Centre’s key missions will be to combat medical misinformation. Through evidence-based exhibits, interactive learning, and expert-led workshops, the Centre will empower visitors to distinguish between credible medical knowledge and misleading or harmful content. It will serve as a beacon of truth in an era of information overload, promoting scientific literacy and public trust in medicine.
