The Medical Discovery Center of Wrocław Medical University, in cooperation with the Urban Memory Foundation, invites participants to a guided city walk exploring the historical relationship between medicine, architecture, and urban development in Wrocław. The event is addressed in particular to students of the English Division at Wrocław Medical University.
This unique walk offers an opportunity to discover the architectural and cultural heritage of the former clinical complex dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries. Participants will explore the distinctive pavilion-style hospital buildings and learn about the historical context in which they were established.
The programme also highlights the achievements of eminent physicians who contributed to the development of the Wrocław Medical School—from its Breslau origins to its transformation within the Polish academic landscape after 1945. In addition, participants will uncover lesser-known stories connected to the site, including its role in film productions, post-war events within hospital buildings, and the evolution of medical treatment and patient care over the decades.
The tour will be led by Damian Kanclerski, an art historian and certified city guide of Wrocław, as well as a licensed Sudety guide and member of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK).
