Final of WOŚP

“Healthy Tummies for Our Children” is the motto of the 34th Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). The Orchestra will play on Sunday, 25 January, and Wroclaw Medical University has once again traditionally joined this nationwide initiative.

“During the last final, we raised a record-breaking PLN 275,000. That’s more than 100 percent more than the previous year, when we collected nearly PLN 120,000. This time, we’re aiming even higher and hope that the Wroclaw Medical University community will help us beat this result,” says Franciszek Kędzierski, head of the WOŚP fundraising team at Wroclaw Medical University and chair of the student organization Together We Can Do More, encouraging everyone to play together with the world’s largest orchestra.

The goal of the 34th Final of WOŚP is to support the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases in the youngest patients. Data show that in Poland approximately 1.2–1.5 million children suffer from gastroenterological conditions, including celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and other diseases of the esophagus and stomach, as well as severe food allergies, pancreatic and liver diseases, and functional disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome. Moreover, the number of affected children continues to rise, which is why the Foundation has decided to support and further equip pediatric gastroenterology units in Poland.
