“Healthy Wrocław – 17th Health Promotion Days”

On Saturday, 13 June, Wrocław Medical University will take part in the “Healthy Wrocław – 17th Health Promotion Days” event. Participants will be able to consult specialists, undergo basic preventive health checks, and gain practical, reliable knowledge about a healthy lifestyle. Participation in the event is free of charge and does not require prior registration.

“Healthy Wrocław – Health Promotion Days” is one of the largest open health-promoting events in the city. Its aim is to encourage residents of the capital of Lower Silesia to take care of their mental and physical well-being, undergo regular check-ups, make informed choices, and stay active. Each year, the organizers and partners ensure that the program offers something for everyone, regardless of age. This year’s attractions will include:

– free medical tests and specialist consultations,
– educational and preventive activities,
– presentations by health-related organizations and institutions,
– physical and family activities,
– a stage program featuring talks, demonstrations, and presentations related to health and well-being.

On Saturday, 13 June, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., around 40 stands will be set up in Wrocław’s Market Square by public institutions, social organizations, medical facilities, and universities – including Wrocław Medical University. WMU will present stands for three of its campaigns:

Move the Heart – a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the importance of providing immediate first aid in cases of sudden cardiac arrest, as well as teaching safe and effective resuscitation.

nabieraMYodwagi – a campaign promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventing obesity, a serious chronic disease that already affects more than 1.9 billion adults worldwide and as many as 39 million children under the age of five.

Keeping Blood Pressure in Check – an initiative promoting the early detection of hypertension and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

University representatives will also appear on the main stage.

From 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wiola Samborska, Director of the WMU Medical Discovery Center, and Franciszek Kędzierski, a student of dietetics and public health and winner of the “Young Talents” competition in the social activity category, will talk about the “Wrocław Health Map” – a project combining health education with residents’ active participation. The presentation will also introduce a modern science tourism center currently being developed at the university.

From 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Dr. Kamila Ludwikowska from the Department and Clinic of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at WMU will talk about vaccinations and health prevention as part of the “Wrocław Gets Vaccinated” program. This will be an opportunity to listen to an expert and receive answers to questions about infectious disease prevention.
