Museum Night 2026 at UMW

Wroclaw Medical University is once again joining the nationwide Museum Night, inviting visitors on Saturday, 16 May, to discover the world of medicine behind the scenes.

This year, the University will open four unique spaces to the public — not all of which are usually accessible to visitors:

– the Library of Wroclaw Medical University,
– the Dermatological Moulage Museum, Wroclaw Medical University,
– the Anatomy Museum, Wroclaw Medical University,
– the Forensic Medicine Museum, Wroclaw Medical University.

The event is organized by the Medical Discovery Center of Wroclaw Medical University.

Registration

Prior online registration is required. Registration will be available online only. Waiting lists will not be created.

Only one person can register via the online form at a time, due to the limited number of places available for each time slot.

Events

Visitors will be able to explore three museums and the UMW Library, each offering a special programme of guided tours and educational activities.


Library of Wroclaw Medical University

Accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The program includes:

3D technology – demonstrations of medical model printing,
Children’s Zone – creative drawing of anatomical models and organ-themed coloring activities,
Library tour – a guided walk through the Library’s modern interiors, presentation of its rich collections, historical holdings, and apothecary items from the collection of Aleksander K. Smakosz.


Dermatological Moulage Museum, Wroclaw Medical University

During this year’s Museum Night, the Dermatological Moulage Museum of Wroclaw Medical University will be opened to visitors for the first time. It is a unique venue housing Poland’s richest collection of wax dermatological moulages.

The collection was created in the late 19th century by the eminent dermatologist Albert Neisser. The exhibits showcase rare skin diseases, many of which are now rarely seen, combining scientific value with historical interest.


Anatomy Museum, Wroclaw Medical University

The Anatomy Museum, located within the Department of Normal Anatomy of Wroclaw Medical University and normally accessible mainly to students and University staff, is a unique educational and historical space.

It is a place where science meets history, and medicine meets a passion for discovery. The museum’s exhibitions present both classic anatomical specimens and historical exhibits documenting the development of medical science and the preparation techniques used.


Forensic Medicine Museum, Wroclaw Medical University

Please note: sensitive content. Autopsy, bodily injuries, crime tools, poisoning, pathological changes, and methods of identifying human remains are among the subjects covered by forensic medicine. The museum presents more than 150 years of research methods in this field, drawing in part on the work and history of the Department of Forensic Medicine in Wrocław.

A significant part of the collection consists of human tissue specimens preserved in conservation fluids.
