Privacy and Cookie Policy for the websites of Wroclaw Medical University 

This document sets out the rules for storing and accessing information via “cookies” saved on the User’s terminal devices and used across the websites of Wroclaw Medical University. 

1. Definitions

• Controller – Wroclaw Medical University (Uniwersytet Medyczny im. Piastów Śląskich we Wrocławiu), with its registered office at Wybrzeże Pasteura 1, 50-367 Wrocław, represented by the Rector. 

• Data Protection Officer (DPO) – Iwona Pilarska, e-mail: IOD@umw.edu.pl, tel.: +48 887 420 111. 

• Cookies – small text files sent by the website www.umw.edu.pl used by the User, to the User’s terminal device (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.). 

• Online Service – a website or application operated by the Controller under the *.umw.edu.pl domain. 

• User – an entity for whom electronic services may be provided.

 

2. Cookies

Cookies are used to: 

• facilitate or enable the User’s use of the website – cookies are the basic means of remembering individual preferences of internet users browsing a given site; 

• create anonymous service statistics; 

• maintain the User’s session (after logging in), so the User does not have to re-enter their login and password on every subpage. 

Most web browsers by default allow cookies to be stored on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. However, Users can manage cookies themselves, including blocking them. 

The User may decide whether cookies are saved by changing the web browser settings: 

• Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security 

• Chrome: Settings > Advanced > Privacy and security > Content settings 

• Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > Privacy (choose different protection levels) > Advanced 

• Opera: Preferences > Advanced > Cookies 

The User may delete cookies at any time using the available functions of the web browser they use. 

Blocking or restricting the use of cookies may disable or limit the ability to use certain functionalities of the Online Service operated by the Controller.
