Ordinance No. 47/XVI R/2025 of the Rector of the Wrocław Medical University dated April 25, 2025, introduced the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) and its related objectives for 2025–2029. The GEP is a requirement of the European Commission for any institution applying for grants and also serves as a guideline to organize actions aimed at building an open and diverse working and learning environment.
Any undesirable incidents can be reported via a dedicated form available on the website:
https://www.umw.edu.pl/pl/dzialania-rownosciowe
or by contacting the Rector’s Plenipotentiaries for Equal Treatment via email at equal@umw.edu.pl or individually.
The following three people hold this function at the university:
- Joanna Ciapała
- Monika Maziak
- Dr. Hab. Bartłomiej Stańczykiewicz, Prof. UMW
In response to student community expectations, the procedure now also allows for indirect reporting—for example, through the student government.
It is worth noting that the vast majority of cases addressed in recent years by the plenipotentiaries were resolved without initiating the formal procedure, thanks to informal discussions and actions. An important action taken last year was responding to the report summarizing an anonymous survey on undesirable actions completed by UMW students. The results were shared with: the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, the Vice-Rector for Academic Staff Development, and the Deans of all faculties.
Deans were instructed to conduct discussions with heads and staff of units identified by students as examples of undesirable actions. At the initiative of the Dean’s College at the Faculty of Medicine, special meetings were organized for staff most frequently mentioned in the survey, attended by the Equal Treatment Plenipotentiaries. Heads were reminded of the need to verify feedback within OZIKI to respond promptly to any reported irregularities.
