Prof. Więckiewicz joins Scientific Board

Prof. Mieszko Więckiewicz has been appointed to the Scientific Board of Journal of Oral Rehabilitation—a highly ranked international journal in the field of oral rehabilitation and related sciences. This is a historic distinction: he is the first Pole in the journal’s history to join its panel of experts.

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation (Impact Factor = 4.0, CiteScore = 6.1) was established in the early 1970s, during a period of intensive development in modern prosthodontics and research on the function of the stomatognathic system. The first issue was published in 1974, placing the journal within the growing trend toward an interdisciplinary approach to the rehabilitation of the masticatory system.

“It is a great honor for me, and at the same time a commitment to continue working at the highest scientific and clinical level,” says Prof. Mieszko Więckiewicz, Editor-in-Chief of Dental and Medical Problems, published by Wroclaw Medical University. “This is also a special moment, as I am the first Pole in the history of Journal of Oral Rehabilitation to join this group of experts. I see this distinction as a sign of trust from the international scientific community and a confirmation of the value of consistent, long-term research and clinical work. This success is not only personal, but also institutional and community-based—for Wroclaw Medical University and for Polish dentistry.”

As the first Polish dentist, Prof. Więckiewicz currently serves on the scientific boards of three leading international journals focused on orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders: Journal of Oral & Facial Pain and Headache, Journal of Craniomandibular and Sleep Practice (CRANIO), and Journal of Oral Rehabilitation.

“This recognition is particularly meaningful to me because it is the result of hard and systematic work that cannot be accelerated or replaced—it requires time, reliability, and recognition from international authorities. I would like to thank all collaborators and research teams I have had the pleasure to work with. This is a shared, objective success and a motivation for further development,” Prof. Więckiewicz concludes.
