Erasmus Day 2026

On 15 October 2026, the picturesque setting of the Botanical Garden in Wrocław hosted the second edition of Erasmus Day- an event that brought together students from various countries and Wrocław’s universities, creating a space for integration, the exchange of experiences and learning about other cultures. The gathering was an excellent opportunity to highlight Wrocław’s international character and its role as a major academic centre, open to students from all over the world.

The event was organised thanks to the support of the Office for Cooperation with Higher Education Institutions at Wrocław City Council. The event was attended by representatives of Wrocław’s universities and students, who together created an atmosphere conducive to making new friends, engaging in conversation and fostering integration across borders. The Botanical Garden became a meeting place for different cultures, languages and perspectives, whilst the autumnal scenery added a unique atmosphere to the event.

Refreshments were also provided, encouraging everyone to spend time together. Participants were treated to traditional Polish pierogi and warming tea, which were particularly appreciated on a chilly October day. It was also an opportunity to showcase elements of Polish hospitality and local culture to international students.
Our University was represented by staff from the International Relations Office: Dominika, Kasia and Sylwia, as well as students involved in the ‘Porusz Serce’ campaign. As part of the event, they demonstrated the principles of first aid, with particular emphasis on the correct performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The demonstration, conducted in both Polish and English, enabled international participants to actively engage in the session, gain practical knowledge and practise basic life-saving techniques. A quiz on Wrocław also proved very popular, giving participants the chance to test their knowledge of the city and win some great prizes. The stand attracted many students, providing an opportunity to have fun together and learn interesting facts about the capital of Lower Silesia.

The stand attracted a great deal of interest. Students were keen to ask questions, learnt about the successive steps to take in a life-threatening situation and tried their hand at the techniques under the guidance of the demonstration leaders. It was a valuable opportunity to realise that the ability to provide first aid is universal, and that knowledge and a readiness to act can make a difference regardless of one’s country of origin or language skills.

Participation in Erasmus Day was not only an opportunity for our University to showcase its international activities and student initiatives, but also a chance to promote attitudes based on cooperation, openness and mutual responsibility. Combining intercultural integration with practical first-aid training demonstrated that such events can not only bring people together but also inspire them to acquire new skills. The second edition of Erasmus Day confirmed just how important initiatives are that promote international integration, the exchange of experiences and the building of relationships within the academic community. The event demonstrated that bringing people together can not only bring those from different cultures closer, but also inspire them to take action and acquire new skills. Wrocław has once again proved itself to be an open city, welcoming to students from all over the world and supportive of the development of the international academic community.
