EURAXESS at Wroclaw Medical University

Wroclaw Medical University is actively involved in the development of the Lower Silesian EURAXESS Network—a regional initiative designed to strengthen support for international researchers, doctoral candidates and students. The project, coordinated by the University of Wrocław, brings together leading academic and research institutions in the region to create a cohesive and high-quality support system for the international scientific community

What is EURAXESS?

EURAXESS is a pan-European initiative supported by the European Commission, operating in over 40 countries. It provides comprehensive support for researchers at all stages of their careers, facilitating international mobility, career development and collaboration across borders .

Through a network of more than 600 service centres worldwide, EURAXESS offers free and personalised assistance, helping researchers navigate relocation, employment opportunities, funding schemes and everyday life in a new country.

Building a Regional Support System

The Lower Silesian EURAXESS Network (2026–2028) aims to create an integrated, “one-stop shop” model of services for international researchers. The initiative focuses on:

  • improving access to reliable information and administrative support
  • facilitating legalisation of stay and employment procedures
  • supporting accommodation and daily life organisation
  • fostering social and professional integration

By combining the experience of partner institutions and existing Welcome Points, the network will establish a recognisable and user-friendly system for international talent coming to Wrocław and the region .

Role of Wroclaw Medical University

As a project partner, Wroclaw Medical University contributes to strengthening the quality and consistency of support services for international researchers, doctoral candidates and students.

Key activities include:

  • co-developing and testing joint information materials and recruitment content
  • promoting study and research opportunities in Wrocław
  • participating in internationalisation initiatives across the region
  • sharing best practices with partner institutions
  • engaging in joint training programmes for administrative and academic staff

These efforts aim to improve the overall experience of international researchers and enhance the attractiveness of Wrocław as a scientific hub .

Supporting an Open and International Community

The project also includes initiatives that foster integration and community building, such as EURAXESS networking events bringing together international researchers and their families with the local academic environment.

By strengthening collaboration, promoting diversity and improving service quality, Wroclaw Medical University contributes to building a more open, inclusive and globally connected research ecosystem.
