On October 9, 2026, the Networking Picnic took place at the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław. The event was organised as part of the “Lower Silesian EURAXESS Network” project, implemented under the NAWA Network – EURAXESS programme. It brought together international PhD students and academic staff holding a doctoral degree or higher who work at universities and research institutions across Lower Silesia.
The event was opened by Professor Marzena Dominiak, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at Wroclaw Medical University, and Ms Magdalena Szymków-Cieniawska, Head of the International Relations Office. It provided an opportunity for members of the international academic community to meet, exchange experiences and ideas, and build new connections in an informal setting.
One of the highlights of the programme was a guided tour of the Botanical Garden of the University of Wrocław, led by Mr Klemens Jakubowski. The tour allowed participants to discover this unique place in Wrocław and enjoy its beautiful natural surroundings.
The organisers also prepared a varied programme of activities to encourage interaction and integration. Participants enjoyed refreshments, took part in music and movement games, and relaxed during a short gong concert. The event also featured an educational and community-focused activity: participants had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Porusz Serce Foundation and practise cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a training manikin.
The Networking Picnic provided a welcoming space for researchers from different universities and research institutions to connect and build professional and social relationships. It also offered international researchers an opportunity to become better acquainted with the local academic community and establish contacts that could lead to future research collaborations.
We would like to thank all participants for joining us and helping create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We hope the event will inspire new connections, ideas, and initiatives, and contribute to the continued growth and integration of the international academic community in Lower Silesia.
