High position of our journals

Wroclaw Medical University journals ranking confirms the growing international position of the university’s scientific publications, which are increasingly recognized in global indexing databases and rankings.

Dental and Medical Problems (DMP) continues the dynamic development initiated in recent years. After being promoted to Q1 in 2024, the journal achieved an SJR index of 1.032 in 2025 and ranked 16th out of 201 titles in the Dentistry (miscellaneous) category. Among open access journals, it ranks 5th in the world, while remaining the leader in its category in Eastern Europe. At the same time, it was also promoted to Q1 in the Medicine (miscellaneous) category, taking 2nd place among Eastern European open access journals.

“This is the result of a consistently implemented development strategy and the commitment of the entire scientific community gathered around the journal. We see a clear, long-term growth trend – both in terms of the number of publications and their scientific impact,” emphasizes Prof. Mieszko Więckiewicz, Editor-in-Chief of DMP.

This result is composed of, among other things, a systematic increase in the number of publications, a growing number of citations (including external citations), an increasing share of foreign authors, and a continuously low level of self-citations.

“We would like to sincerely thank the members of the Scientific Board, section editors, reviewers, authors, and the entire editorial team,” adds Prof. Więckiewicz. “Your commitment and hard work are the foundation of this success. Thank you for your contribution to the continuous development and growing renown of Dental and Medical Problems.”

Parallel to this, Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine is recording very good results. The journal has continuously maintained its position in the first quartile (Q1) in the Reviews and References (medical) category since 2021. The current SJR index is 0.599, which means maintaining the highest level of prestige to date in the SCImago/Scopus database. The journal’s H-index has also increased, reaching 54.

A further increase in the citation rate of publications is also visible – the citations per document index increased from 2.316 in 2024 to 2.499 in 2025, and in the two-year period from 2.137 to 2.581. At the same time, the internationalization of the journal is growing – the share of publications resulting from international collaboration increased from 11.11% to 15.23%.

“Maintaining the position in the first quartile in the Reviews and References (medical) category, the increase in citations, and the larger share of publications resulting from international collaboration confirm the consistent strengthening of the position of Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine. This is a success of the entire community gathered around the journal – authors, reviewers, section editors, the Scientific Board, and the UMW Publishing House team,” emphasizes Prof. Donata Kurpas, Editor-in-Chief.

The achievements of both titles show that Wroclaw Medical University effectively develops its publishing facilities and strengthens its presence in the global knowledge circulation. The increase in the quality of publications, internationalization, and the growing importance of open access translate into a real impact of the research conducted at the university on the development of science and clinical practice.
